"corner boston boston S" is a new collection presented in the 2025 2nd collection.
Based on the concept of "from sound to form", it explores how to imagine shapes (forms) from the invisible aspect of sound, dividing it into two categories: "liveliness" and "quietness", and considering how to express it in form.
The focus is on how to balance the expression of "liveliness" and "quietness" within this bag.
Although the corner boston S has a seemingly simple and subdued appearance representing "quietness", it features a prominent gold zipper and emphasizes the zipper through surface stitching (liveliness), with a design that eliminates seams between the zipper and leather.
The upper curve has a straight cut that takes advantage of the material's features, while the curved bottom expresses differences to create a unique design, aiming for an interesting sense of incongruity when viewed from the front.
The zipper slider is a brand-specific four-piece design, allowing access to the interior of the bag from both the center and the sides, making it very convenient. This feature is also adopted in the long stone series and motion series. The mouth opens to half the width of the bag for ease of visibility and accessibility inside, making it ideal for daily use, allowing for the comfortable storage of smartphones, magazines, pouches, etc. The length of the handle also provides comfort, making it possible to carry it on the shoulder.
The leather used is called tea husk leather, which is vegetable tanned in Japan. The term "tea husk" refers to the residue from tea leaves, which is added in small percentages to the usual mimosa tannin during tanning to create the leather. Tea husks are produced in large quantities after beverage production in Japan, and utilizing this as a secondary resource contributes to reducing environmental impact.
The texture of the leather features a unique matte finish that becomes increasingly glossy with use, allowing for enjoyment of the aging process of the leather.
The "sound" refers to the constant train noise beneath the elevated structure where the brand's atelier is located, which is perceived not as noise but as a "lively" sound, influencing the creative activity. I believe this is a special environment.
