The "corner boston boston M" is a new collection released in the 2nd collection of 2025.
With the concept of "from sound to form," we explored how to imagine form from the invisible element of sound. The collection divides sound into two aspects: "liveliness" and "quietness," and considers how these can be expressed in form.
We focused on how to represent a balanced expression of "liveliness" and "quietness" within this bag.
The corner boston M appears simple at first glance, embodying a quiet demeanor with subtle decorations. However, it features a long, bold gold zipper, and emphasizes the zipper through surface stitching (liveliness), with a design that eliminates seams between the zipper and leather.
The top curve has a linear cut that utilizes the characteristics of the material while the bottom's curve expresses differences, aiming to create a unique design that provides a pleasing sense of dissonance when viewed from the front.
The zipper slider features a brand-specific design with four sliders, allowing access to the interior from the center or either side, making it very convenient. This design is also used in the long stone series and motion series. The opening extends halfway down the side to ensure visibility and ease of access to the inner contents, making it capable of storing A4-sized files and a 13-inch laptop. The handles are also generously sized for shoulder carrying.
The leather used is tea husk leather, a vegetable-tanned leather from Japan. The term tea husk refers to the husks of tea leaves, which are added as a percentage of tannin during the tanning process, using the traditional mimosa tannin. The tea husks are a byproduct of beverage production in Japan, and recycling them contributes as an approach to reduce environmental impact.
The leather has a unique, plump matte finish, and its luster develops over time with use, allowing you to enjoy the texture change with age.
The "sound" of the brand's atelier, located under an elevated train track, is always filled with train noises, which we perceive as "lively" rather than mere noise, and it influences our creative activities. I believe this is a unique environment.
Also, regarding the living environment, since the designer lives at the foot of the mountain, it is a very quiet environment where you can feel the sounds of nature. I live every day feeling the differences in sound and environment.
